What a nightmare assembling this thing was!! The reason why I am still up right now is because I started assembling this thing around 8pm, and didn't finish until around 2am!! And then I had to spend another hour or so setting up my computers again (if you've ever seen it, my desk is an amazing haven of nerd-dom with 3 monitors hooked up to two computers, along with a little accessory cart with two printers and a scanner on it!). So yeah. After putting out so much physical effort for the last six hours, it's kind of hard for me to just settle down and go to bed. So I'm up making this somewhat overdue update. So far though, I'm pretty happy with the new setup. I estimate that by putting the desk under the bed, I've freed up about 35 square feet of floor space. I've also actually got more desk space with this new setup too, since I can have my monitors hanging out further off the back. Also, by having my desk underneath the bed, the computers are no longer the first thing I see when I open my eyes in the morning. For those of you who don't know, I work at home. On these computers. Back at my old place, I noticed that I was generally happier after I rearranged my room from one setup where the first thing I saw in the morning was my computer... to one where they were out of view. They are now once again out of view. Yay. Maybe tomorrow I'll borrow Matt's camera and take a pic of the new setup. Last week, Matt and I headed down the street to the new JBX restaurant. "JBX" is a little experiment being performed by Jack in the Box (their corporate headquarters are here in San Diego). They tore down two of their old restaurants (one in Hillcrest and one in PB), and replaced them with JBX's. The idea is to try to make a place that's a little hipper, a little cooler, and with a little bettter service, and with a little better food.
It definitely was pretty cool looking, and the food actually was better. I ordered the "Meat and Cheese Burger" which, on the menu, appeared to be the same as Jack in the Box's "Ultimate Cheeseburger" -- meat patty with cheddar and swiss cheese. What I found was that the quality of the beef was much better, as well as the quality of the cheeses. They also brought the food out to my table (in about the same way that Carl's Jr. has been doing it for years).
