his was such a crazy weekend! Like somehow everyone chose this weekend to do everything... or something. The WPBA tour came to town and of course Jeanette was there, and she actually brought her husband along with her, which was cool cuz I never got to meet him before in the couple of years that I've known her. So on Thursday I headed out to Viejas Casino to take in the action and hang out and stuff. Unfortunately, she played pretty darn poorly this week, and I showed up just in time to see Jeanette lose her first round match. She did however bounce back a bit and win both of her matches on Friday.

The tournament room at Viejas

Friday evening I came back home to wait for Helen to show up. She drove down from San Jose to hang out and stuff. She and Cami have been enjoying sharing their mutual unemploy-edness quite thoroughly, I think. Helen and I walked over to the nearby pub where Cami, Jeff, and a couple of Cami's (now) former coworkers were having a few drinks to celebrate the fact that they are out from under the thumb of their horrible, horrible boss.
For Saturday, Jeanette had to plow through four matches to stay in the tournament, starting at 11AM. I had planned to go with Cami, Jeff and Helen on a picnic at Mission Bay. Jeanette was supposed to call me after her 2:30 match to let me know what was going on later that evening, as I was planning on spending the afternoon at Mission Bay and the evening back at the tournament, but around 1:30, I got a call from her. Just looking at what time it was, I knew it was bad news... she had lost her first match of that day. She was out of the tournament.
I felt bad for her, but at the same time, it meant I could spend the whole day hanging out with Helen. So we set out for Mission Bay. Jeff drove the Buick, and I followed behind in my car. On the way there, a low flying pigeon had an unfortunate encounter with Jeff's windshield. I saw an explosion of feathers as the bird bounced off his car... but amazingly, I saw the bird open up its wings and fly away after the incident... crazy!

Cami and Helen at Mission Bay Park

We were pretty surprised how empty it was at Mission Bay Park. We've noted for future reference that Saturdays are pretty good for going there... Sundays are horribly crowded, don't even try it! We ate our sack lunches, and Jeff flew his kite. The weather was absolutely fantastic... sunny and warm with a good strong breeze for kite flying. Yes, life in San Diego is good!

Saturday evening we had dinner at home, where Cami prepared a wonderful pasta dish. She claims that now that she will be home more, she will be cooking more often, which I gotta say, is 100% OK with me! Clark and Jeff were over too, and afterwards, we just kinda vegged out for a while and they played craps on my snazzy craps/blackjack/roulette table with me dealing. It was not a pretty sight though, as I think the four of them ended up losing a combined (virtual) $3000 or so. Good thing (for them) that it wasn't real money! But it was still a lot of fun. Craps really is a fun game to play!
Today we had lunch with Cami's sisters who were down in San Diego for a convention type thingy. Like I said, everyone picked this weekend to come down to San Diego... I mean, on Thursday night, Jeff was off hanging out with his friends from LA who decided to come down for a night. Anyway, Cami's sisters and one of their friends had lunch with us, basically on their way back up to the L.A. area.

Jeanette Lee and Mitch Lawrence

And this evening, it was back to Viejas Casino, where Jeanette was doing commentary for the upcoming ESPN broadcasts of this event. I came in to see the second half of the final match between Helena Thornfeldt and Allison Fisher. You might see me on TV for the second half there. When I showed up, Helena was behind 6-3, but she fought her way back up to 6-5... at which point Allison had the break... and ran out the table, winning the tournament.

Afterwards, I went out to dinner with Jeanette, her husband George, and her sister at Korea House, where she could get some decent Korean food (something pretty hard to come by in Indiana where she lives!). On the way there, I got to see one of the oddest images I had ever seen in my life... Jeanette Lee... the "Black Widow"... driving a Chrysler Town and Country Minivan. Not exactly what you'd picture her driving around in, haha.
I got to know George a little better on the drive down there, and I gotta say, he's a really cool guy, and it's too bad he doesn't travel with Jeanette more cuz I'd totally want to hang out with him more often, haha. And well, that's pretty much it I guess for this crazy weekend.
Helen's going back home tomorrow morning, and life I guess will be pretty much back to normal. Well, except that Cami won't be going to work. It is gonna be weird having her around the house all day. I'm used to waking up in the morning and having the apartment to myself for most of the day. Ok. Well. I've been writing for like... 45 minutes. That's too much haha. I think I'm gonna call it a night, and maybe pop in an ST:TNG DVD. Yeah.

o strange, how stuff that's been around on the internet for years that have been laying dormant will suddenly blow up. The I Love Trista Page has been around since 1997 or so. Cami was still living in the dorms when I made that thing, that's how freakin' old it is! Well, last weekend it got posted on collegehumor.com, and since then, there's been about 20,000 or so hits on it.
I guess what strikes me as a little strange is that I haven't received a single email about it. Not one "this is funny" or "you are a deranged stalker". Nothing. The reactions I've gotten in the past have been pretty funny though. Although I did a pretty obvoius and poor job of photo manipulation, some people never notice that there's anything weird about all those pictures... that it's the same picture of Trista in each one.
Other people seem to take it too seriously. They think I'm a stalker. That I really am in love with Trista and that I put her in all those pictures from my life as an expression of some sort of sick obsessive fantasy. Oh well. I guess some people just take life in general too seriously, and have a hard time looking for the lighter side in things.
But yeah. Funny how it's been there on the internet for the last 6 years and now today people notice it haha. I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of people who have filtered through there this week hadn't even ever used a web browser yet at the time that page was created, haha. I mean, the most recently added thing to that page is the little flash animation, and it actually warns people who are still using the Flash 3 plugin to upgrade to version 4... what version are we on now? 6? Haha.
