Monday
I spent the night at Cami's because I was going to go to work because i knew that if I went home I wouldn't wake up. I've been having problems with waking up, you know??
Anyways, I still woke up late. But I went to work. Then I went to
class After that, I had lunch at Plaza Cafe.
Some time later, I came back home... and made dinner and ate and
stuff. Then I started to read Frankentein for my humanities class.
And that's about it, i guess... nothing terribly exciting.
Wednesday
Tuesday had nothing major to speak of. Today I woke up late again. It
sucks. I hate waking up late. I feel like I waste the whole day and stuff.
Anyways, I went on a technical date with Cami today... we dressed up, I
drove and I paid, so I guess that is a date.
We were going for the ultimate cheezy date. So we did all the cheezy
date things. Like first we started out by watching the sunset at the La
Jolla Cove. As far as San Diego sunsets go, it was a mediocre sunset but
I'm sure it was an incredible experience for all the tourists who have
never seen the sun set over the ocean before.
After the sun disappeared I whispered in her ear "do it again, daddy" like that
one M&M's commercial.
After that we parked somewhere on Girard and then set off to look for a
place to eat dinner. This is one area that I didn't want to be cheezy. I
mean, there are nice restaurants, and there are restaurants that people
think are nice. I was looking for the former variety. We ended up at the
Crab Catcher, which is near the Chart House (which is one of those
restaurants people think are nice). Actually, it was hard to find that
place. I never even knew it was there and no one seemed to have ever heard
of it. It was sort of hidden... there were some shops, but once you
proceeded inside you could see that this building was actually three
stories high, but all below the street level. And the restaurant was at
the bottom.
We got a table that was right in front of a very large window with a
view of the ocean, the beach, and the cliffs. But it was already dark so
all we could see were the lights of the city and the lights reflecting off
the ocean. Immediately I knew we picked a good place. It was much cozier
than the Chart House. The Chart House is too big. It makes it seem like
they are more concerned with getting as many customers through the
restaurant than they are about having a good dining experience. And no one
asked us "Are you guys going to some formal or something?" like when we
went to the Rusty Pelican on La Jolla Village Drive (a restaurant that
COULD be nice but is frequented by people who don't know what a nice
restaurant is).
The food was delicious. To start us off, we ordered crab-stuffed
mushrooms for an appetizer, and they were great. I love mushrooms, and I
love crabs. They should make microwavable frozen ones of those or
something. Sure they wouldn't taste as good, but I would munch 'em down
anyways. I suppose I would have to buy a microwave first though...
I ordered a sort of combination plate which included salmon, scallops,
and shark. With the first bite of the scallops, my tounge was bombarded by
a rush of color and flavor. I knew then that this food was much better
than the Chart House food. It just tasted fresher.
Cami ordered Scampi Flambe. Of course, being a restaurant on the
Pacific, they don't have real Scampi... not for $20 anyways...
For desert we ordered a slice of ice cream cake. It had an oreo crust,
filled with macadamia nut ice cream, covered with hot fudge and nuts.
Needless to say, it didn't let us down after following the amazing food
that preceeded it.
Since this middle part of our date didn't live up to the ultimate
cheezy date, we went up to Mount Soledad afterwards just to bring it back
into ultimate cheezedom. For those who don't know what Mount Soledad is,
it is (I think) the highest point in the city of San Diego, located,
pretty much near the center of the city, but toward the coast. From there
you can see... really really far. Nice view. Lots of people go there to
make out. We didn't. We ain't like that. We just like to dress up and go
out. Lots of people feel uncomfortable dressing up. We are two people that
don't feel uncomfortable, and rather like it. I would dress up every day
if people wouldn't look at me funny or ask me where the formal is at... We
like to go out on dates to have fun. Hmmm. I think a lot of people have
forgotten what that means... fun. These days it seems like I have to marry
a person after one date because they always feel like there needs to be
something more afterwards. There just isn't a such thing as "casual
dating" anymore... at least, not among the people I'm trying to go out
with. Just have fun on a date without expecting some feelings or
relationship or something like that afterwards. Does anyone still do this?
Then we like went home and stuff... and that was pretty much it for
today I guess.
Friday
Friday. Hmmm... I drove home-home, as in to my parents house. This
wednesday is my mother's birthday, so I went there. It was one of the
greatest days to drive in the world. One of those... I really really really
wish I had a convertable days. I drove the whole way with the windows down
and stuff. Sunny, warm and clear. What more could you want?
That evening I went shopping with my sister for a birthday present. What
do you buy for your mother anyways? We ended up buying her some clothes. I
hope she likes them.
That night I attended Grace Korean Church for the first time in many
months. They now moved to this place across the street from Disneyland. It
was strange seeing all those faces again and stuff.
Saturday
I worked on my humanities paper which is due on monday. Then i
went over to Paul's house and watched the original, unadulterated (read: not
even THX remastered... just plain Dolby Stereo) version of The Empire
Strikes Back. Yup. Nothing coming out of the rear speakers because...
well back then movies only came in stereo, not in all that fancy surround
sound stuff. And I found it to be much better than the "Special Edition"
they just put out.
After that, I went home, and had dinner. Then pretty much right after
that, I drove back to San Diego. I tried to work on my paper as I got back
around 9:45pm, but I wasn't very successful, so I gave up. Pretty much.
Sunday
I woke up. I ate. I began working on my paper.
I worked on my paper.
It turned dark.
I am now done with my first draft and it is the sorriest piece of crap I
have ever written. Not only that, but it isn't even long enough. I'll go
through and read it over again in a few minutes.
