Well, first of all, I actually did very well last quarter. I even got an A+ in my theatre design class, if you can believe that. And I got over a 3.6 if you can believe that too. I am so motivated in school now that it is sickening.
My new classes seem pretty cool. Here's the overview:
Theatre/History 3 - Part of the lower-division history sequence that all theatre majors have to take. I've already taken 2. If it is anything like 2, it's going to be a lot of reading, but it will be bearable.
Theatre/History 125 - This is the History and Theory of Directing. Not as much reading, but a lot more work on the projects.
Theatre/Practicum 4 - This is the stage management practicum class. I have to take this class because I am ASMing a show right now. More on this later...
Math 10C - I'm scared because I haven't taken math since freshman year. I've taken 20A and 20B which are way harder (well, faster), and now that I'm not a science major, I'm stepping down to the non-science major math so I can complete my requirement. But I'm still scared because I'm rusty.
I am currently working on a show, the Frank O'Hara project. It's titled In Memory of My Feelings and it basically chronicles the life and writing of Frank O'Hara through his poetry.
This show is going to run May 12-16 in the Mandell Weiss Forum.
I'm working as the ASM (that's Assistant Stage Manager), and I'm looking forward to working in the Forum because I've never done a show in there.
This show is being directed by Matt Wilder who graduated as an MFA director from UCSD in '91, or so they tell me, and is an undergraduate show, meaning it's all undergrads in it.
I'm busy as hell because of this show, mainly because I have rehearsal like every day except for sunday. But it's been fun, so far.
